WORKING REPLICA 1880's STEAM DRILLING ENGINE
Long a mainstay of the Pennsylvania and New York oil fields, these engines can still be found in use today, although most have been converted to half breed gas engines. This 1/8 scale replica has a 12" overall length and a 6-1/2" diameter flywheel. The kit comes complete with 17 bronze and iron castings, all the bar stock, gasket material, screws, and complete working drawings. This kit is a machinist's delight no matter whether you are a pro or an amateur. The satisfaction of seeing this engine run with all its moving parts operating is reward enough, but watching the fascination of others who see it work is truly gratifying. Note that machining and assembly are required for this kit. Brick base is not included, please see our machine tool accessories for purchase of brick material.

But I have lost the assembly drawings and part drawings . Now am very interested again to revive the project. Can any one help in getting the drawings of steam engine and boiler. Or PM team can support me on this pls? Even am not using the mail ID I used to procure this kit so couldn't even able to retrieve the invoice nos. Srinivasan ashnkr@ gmail.com

Does that casting kit include metric drawnings?

A nice project for anyone with a modest lathe and mill. An adjustable angle plate is helpful in the machining of the 45 degree bearing cap mounts but not essential. Using a rectangle of aluminum plate held in the vice with the bed casting mounted on that does the trick. A big plus, given the "thin" cross-sections of several of the iron castings, NO hard spots!

The 1BI is my first engine project. Castings were accurate and the plans are superb. The most challenging aspect is coming up with the set-ups for machining. This engine runs great and although I have a Bridgeport clone and a 12X36" lathe, it is easily built with a micro-mill and lathe. You will not be disappointed with this kit.
