WORKING REPLICA VERTICAL13 FLUE STEAM BOILER KIT
This model steam boiler kit will easily run one of our well constructed #2, #3 and/or #5 steam engines for light-duty use and demonstration purposes. Popular around the turn of the century because of their simplicity and small floor space requirement, the vertical multiflue boiler is still popular today for the same reasons. Today, however, it also makes a handsome showpiece. Put life into your steam engines, run them on live steam. What a sight! This steam boiler kit is constructed of copper with 4 aluminum castings comprising the base, door, door frame and smoke box cover. Copper tube sheets are flanged and punched. All hardware, bar stock, silver solder, working drawings, etc. are included. A finished safety valve and water gauge are also included. The firebox is 3" diameter x 2-1/2" high. The door opening is 1-1/2" high x 2" wide. The water space is 3-1/2" high, 20 cubic inches of volume. There are 13 copper flues 3/8" in diameter, 61 square inch heating surface. We supply "ESBIT" dry fuel tablets to run this boiler although other heat sources are possible. We also recommend the use of distilled water. Machining and assembly required.

This vertical boiler kit is well designed and I would recommend it to any average builder. All someone needs is the ability to read and understand the well written assembly sequence. Nothing that a builder with common sense can't follow. I'm not a machinist, but I do have a small hobby lathe. It is necessary to be able to machine turn some of the parts. Or, have someone turn them for you. A drill press is almost a necessity also. Riveting was a learning experience for me. "They" include extra rivets, and I used all of them plus one:-( I promise, you can do better. I run PMR's #7 twin cylinder steam engine with no problem keeping up enough steam, even when I frequently blow the PMR steam whistle. Take your time, and complete one step at a time. All comes together with great satisfaction. I'd be willing to discuss and email sequential assembly pictures to anyone that might have questions. Of course, PMR will answer any questions also. They do stand behind their products. my email--> rcpilottoo@gmail.com
